As a life-long jewelry lover (and serious) bracelet fan, I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the launch of the new men’s collection by Dean Davidson. Trust me – it’s going to be HUGE. A celebrated designer, Dean has been designing women’s jewelry for over 10 years. The idea to do a men’s collection has been in planning stages for some time and as you’ll see, it was well worth the wait. Modern, masculine and well formed – this is a jewelry collection stylish guys are going to love.
Inspired by the iconic gold bar, the first men’s collection (called Capital) consists of all the jewelry staples all dapper gents need – necklaces, rings, cufflinks and of course, bracelets. Many of the pieces have a faceted edge to them that gives them the extra sense of quality which is always found in Dean’s designs.
The men’s pieces are cast out of brass and plated in 22KT gold or rhodium, or made of sterling silver. Dean’s signature brush finish gives a rich and timeless quality to his work, with an edge. Some of his favourite gemstones, like Black Onyx and Labradorite, all hand cut and polished in Jaipur, elevate the collection so it’s unlike anything else on the market today. Dean also incorporated a unique gemstone called Pietersite specifically for the men’s line. Its incredible marble-like qualities will be a favourite among stylish men who appreciate the finer things.
It was also a pleasure to be a part of shooting the campaign for the men’s collection (below). Dean worked with Mode Model president Kelly Streit to find the perfect guy to represent the men’s collection and they nailed it with model Joey Kirchner – I mean, look at the guy. HALLO! Joey’s been working in the industry for over 10 years. Having worked internationally with brands like Barneys and Ralph Lauren, he’s a true modeling pro. And he represents Dean Davidson’s brand perfectly.
Since launching his line in 2007, Dean’s collection can now be found in over 250 boutiques and department stores, including over 40 Nordstrom locations. His work can also be seen on high-profile clients and personalities such as Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, Jessica Alba and Debra Messing. Soon you’ll be seeing the men’s pieces on some well-known fashionable men as well.
I must admit, I have a pretty damn cool job getting to be involved is all of this! As always, thanks for reading.
