Fashion’s biggest night never disappoints. The annual fundraiser for the Met’s Costume Institute is hands down the most exclusive event of the year – many consider it the most elitist event in the world. Tickets start at a staggering $30,000 and Anna Wintour oversees and approves every person who attends. So basically if Anna doesn’t like you, you’re not going. This year’s theme “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” explores the innate connection between fashion and religion. Continue reading
This year’s Golden Globes red carpet was unlike any other. Nearly all attendees wore black and it made for a powerful statement standing in solidarity with #TimesUp to protest discrimination and sexual harassment against women. While the ladies were for the first time ever all in the same colour on the red carpet, they still added their own stylistic touch and stood out in their own unique way. Because this year’s silent protest was for an important cause, a typical red carpet review doesn’t seem appropriate so I’ve included the looks I thought stood out the most. Continue reading
As we all know, 2017 has been quite the year. But in spite of the constant onslaught of bad news, on the lighter side, there were some memorable red carpets looks. Like I do annually, here’s a look-back at some of the year’s most impressive or talked-about style moments. Celine Dion, Tracee Ellis Ross, Nicole Kidman and (my girl) Cindy Crawford all had a solid style year. Continue reading
After more than 40 years, TIFF has proved to be a major force in terms star power – and style statements. Practically everyone shows up. They all seem to love Toronto. As the importance of the festival continues to skyrocket, so do the memorable fashion moments. Although I didn’t get to see many stars in person (except for Drake), here’s a rundown of some of the most talked about looks. Once again, Nicole Kidman remains the one to watch. That Valentino retro multi-patterned dress was killer. Continue reading
Some years are more exciting than others, and this year’s Emmy red carpet definitely impressed with many memorable looks. For example, as if we don’t be talking about Jane Fonda’s ponytail for years. And I loved seeing so many legendary veteran actresses totally slay it on the red carpet looking better than ever. Along with Fonda, Susan Sarandon, Jessica Lang, Michelle Pfeiffer and Judith Light all stunned and showed their much younger acting counterparts how it’s done. A great dress paired with experience and confidence is hard to beat. Here’s a rundown of some of this year’s most talked about looks.
Always one of the best red carpets of the year, the Cannes Film Festival is like no other. The French Riviera is all about excess and this is a place where the stars aren’t afraid to play dress up and are willing to look extra luxurious & extravagant. The only rules at Cannes are that subtlety is not allowed and to always think of Joan Collins (in her Dynasty days) and Elizabeth Taylor as inspiration. Next to the Met Gala, this is the most exciting red carpet of the year. Continue reading
It’s the party that costs $30,000 a ticket and even if you an afford a ticket, that doesn’t mean you can necessarily attend. It’s invitation only and there’s a famously long waiting list – just to get on the invite list. Anna Wintour carefully oversees every detail and has to approve everyone who attends – of course she does. So even if a company buys a table, she still has the final say whether your guests can attend or not. Pretentious, right?! God, I want to go some day… Continue reading
I once again had the pleasure of being part of the annual Oscar red carpet recap on CTV Morning Live with three talented and beautiful ladies – host Aisling Tomei, stylist Taylor McDonald and photographer and publicist Aldona Barutowicz. As always, we had blast. There are few things I enjoy more than talking about fancy dresses. Check out the full clip here. Looking forward to next time! And check out my full blog post on many of the most talked about Oscars looks this year.
This year’s Oscars will undoubtedly go down in history as one of the most (if not the most) memorable Oscars in history. Because as you likely know, THEY ANNOUNCED THE WRONG BEST PICTURE WINNER. But this post is about the dresses and red carpet looks. The incredible ones – and the unfortunate ones. Of course my favourite trend on the red capet this year were the earrings. Big ones! And lots of them. As I’ve saying for a while, oversize earrings are going to be huge (no pun intended) in 2017.
Award season is in full swing with the Grammys taking place Sunday night. Obviously, the biggest story was the controversy over Adele winning Best Album, beating Beyoncé who many thought deserved to win for her critically praised album, Lemonade – including Adele. It was a charming moment when she broke her Grammy in half so she could share it with Beyoncé. I can’t say the red carpet this year was particularly exciting or that there was any one look we’ll remember for years to come (like Jennifer Lopez’s legendary plunging Versace in 2000). If I had to choose the night’s style winner, I’d probably go with Rihanna – but that’s mostly because of her brilliant bedazzled flask. Continue reading
